Trading Session

Follow the tabs below: set up your Kite Connect app, create a broker account, then sign in to Kite.

No broker accounts yet — use the Session setup tab for step-by-step instructions, or go straight to Accounts → New account.
Prerequisite: Create a Kite Connect app

Before signing in to Kite from TickForge, create a Personal app on the Zerodha Kite Connect developer portal.

Important requirement

Use the same Redirect URL on every Kite Connect app. TickForge passes the account username automatically when you sign in.

The API Key and Secret saved in TickForge must come from the same Kite app whose Redirect URL you configured above.

Shown for reference when creating the account in TickForge — not part of the Redirect URL.

Zerodha Client ID

Different from your login username. Open the Kite Android/iOS app → Profile → copy the Client ID shown there (example: ABC123).

Copy into the Zerodha app form (must include www.).

1Open the Kite Connect developer portal

Sign in and open My apps.

  • Go to developers.kite.trade and sign in with your Zerodha account.
  • Open My apps from the top navigation.
  • Click Create new app.

2Create a Personal app

Fill the form with your Client ID and the Redirect URL from the top of this page.

  • Type: Personal.
  • App name: any name you want — it does not need to match your TickForge username.
  • Zerodha Client ID: open the Kite Android/iOS app → Profile and copy the 6-character Client ID shown there (example: ABC123). It must match the Zerodha account you use to sign in — not your email, demat number, or TickForge username.
  • Redirect URL: paste the unified callback URL from the top of this page (same URL for every Kite app).
Type: Personal
App name: My TickForge App

3Copy API credentials

After creating the app, verify URLs and copy your keys.

  • Set status to Active if Zerodha requires it.
  • Copy API Key (16 characters) and API Secret exactly from this app.
  • Verify Redirect URL matches exactly (with www.) — do not embed your TickForge username in the path.
  • Paste the same API Key and Secret when creating the account in TickForge.
4Add account in TickForge

Create the account with your chosen username and Kite Connect credentials.

  • Username: any label you want for this broker account in TickForge.
  • API Key & API Secret: paste from the same Kite Connect app (step 3) — not your Zerodha login password.
  • Click Create, open the Session page, select this account, then sign in to Kite.

TickForge never stores your Kite password.

If login fails, verify:

  • Redirect URL is the unified /api/v1/kite/oauth/callback (with www.)
  • API Key is 16 characters from Kite Connect → App details
  • API Key / Secret in TickForge match the same Kite app
  • You selected the same account on Session before signing in to Kite
